Congratulations to Speaker Bobby Harrell and also to Ambassador David Wilkins for all your hard work this legislative session.
Of course, SC Hotline and also The Right Times would like to see politics continue the whole year. We realize all good things must come to an end and there is a place and time for everything. That is why at this time we would like to issue an open policy letter to any elected official to write for SC Hotline or The Right Times.
Do you have an issue that you would like to grow public support for? Then tell the public why by writing about it in SC Hotline. We can even help you edit your letter and publish it in other media outlets.
We are the number one news source for politico’s to check out everyday. We will feature your letter on our main site. Many people will see it and even more will be talking about it at the water cooler. It will create a buzz because all of the political leaders and thinkers will read it.
I would encourage you to try it. It is not hard. We have already had our first two columns and we are looking for more. Simply email me at mgreen@gmail.com and you too could be published.

Who's up and who's down
Enough about Lindsey Graham already, we may never know if he was a hero or a scallywag. Was he sent by the President or Sen. Frist to negotiate a secret deal? Or is he a renegade Republican? Time will only tell and it will judge Senator Graham’s action. I tend to agree that Graham was not sent by Frist. If he was, then Frist is an incredibly weak leader who should resign from the Senate.
My column this week is all about who is up and who is down. I will do a column like this from month to month. The politicians who are up this week are Senator DeMint. He took the presidents side to end the filibuster and was disappointed by the actions of fourteen Senators. His stock has went up about 5 points this week in my opinion.
Another person who stock has raised is Thomas Ravenel. You might say, I worked for him and therefore I am loyal to him. That is the case here but, I believe it was courageous for Ravenel to take a stand and to keep Sen. Graham’s toes to the fire. I also like the line where Thomas called Senator Graham “The Third Senator from New York.” Ravenel’s stock goes up three points!
Let’s not forget the state GOP chairman, Katon Dawson, and his comments about how many phone calls the state GOP was getting against Sen. Graham and how he basically told John McCain you better stay out of South Carolina. You have no chance of winning here. (The following comments were me reading between the lines in several news articles etc.) My hat goes off to Senator (err… I mean) Chairman Dawson. He is one who will tell it like it is and not just drink the kool-aid. His stock went up two points.
One of the strangest lines for a press release took place last week when Chairman Erwin responded to a press conference from the Governor. “By examining his record so far it's pretty clear that Mark Sanford couldn't sell pictures of Paris Hilton to a college frat house." Is this really a comment that a chairman and CEO of Erwin-Penland would say? Or is this a comment that an intern in college wrote for him? Chairman Erwin that was dumb comment! You could have come up with a better line. Your stock goes down three points for that comment alone.
The tide is turning and the old Turks are out and the new Turks are rising to power. The exa
